HOME: About Peace Hills: Community Involvement Peace Hills Insurance strongly believes it is important for us to give back to the communities we do business in. The following shows different campaigns we have supported in the past, and our plans for the future.
Oilers - Reading---Give it a Shot! Heading into the 2003-2004 hockey season we have become a corporate sponsor of the "Reading.....Give It a Shot" literacy program developed by the Edmonton Oilers and the Copper Jackets organizations. This reading program partners the Edmonton Oilers and the corporate community with student achievement. "Reading....Give it a Shot" helps to increase literacy by encouraging students to read and rewarding those who work hard at it. After each student in a class has read 5 books in one month their teacher enters the class into a draw to win hockey tickets to an Edmonton Oilers game which have been donated by local businesses. During the 2002-2003 season in excess of 4000 students attended an Edmonton Oilers NHL game. "Drive Right" was a community safety program that encouraged positive driving habits and attitudes. The objective of "Drive Right" was to reduce the number of fatalities and injuries caused by motor vehicle collisions. Awareness of this program was created through information sessions at high schools, displays at trade events and participation in parades. Peace Hills was proud to participate in this program in 1996.
"The Community Smoke Alarm Program" was developed in 1996. It was created to provide rooming house tenants, which include university students as well as people on a fixed income, with a smoke alarm for their protection. The program objectives were:
Mission Possible is a traffic safety initiative supported by various business partners committed to improving traffic safety in Alberta. We have been a partner in Mission Possible since 1997.
Our future plans are to expand our involvement in the provinces that we now consider to be part of our community.
